Dope Thoughts With David Banner - Vol. VII

By Valencia Joseph

We’ve got a couple more rapid fire answers for you today and thoughts on taking risks. Read on as David shares with us the people he admires most.

David Banner Inside Out – More Rapid Fire Q&A

ASPiRE: Name three people, alive or gone, that you admire to the utmost.

David: 1 – David Moody. He’s owner of one of the largest construction firms in Atlanta and he allowed me to move into his house and stay with his family when I didn’t have a place to stay.

2 – My father, Zeno Crump. I hated the way he treated me, but everything he said was spot on. I wouldn’t be the man I am today if it wasn’t for him.

(ASPiRE Note: I tried not to get emotional… aww, David…)

David: 3 (and 4, but really, who’s counting) – Patrice Lumumba and Malcolm X… Malcolm has had more effect on me than anyone else in history.

David Banner – Inside Out… David’s Thoughts on Taking Risks

ASPiRE asked David about being a performer and whether it is a risky business to be in. David acknowledged there’s truth to that and agrees that any success desired in life requires some level of risk. David affirmed, “Look, if you’re scared, GO HOME!” He continues, “To make money, you have to take risk. But it’s not all about money. My movies now challenge people, even if they don’t sell all over the world, they still have an effect on people.” David recalls a thought a female elder once said to him. “She told me it may not be meant for you to be JESUS, maybe you’re supposed to be MOSES and be there to inspire somebody.”

The Banner-ism… If it’s worth it, take the risk.

Series premieres are still in effect, so don’t miss ABFF Independent. Your DVRs should already be set for Thursdays at 9 PM ET.
