First Black Woman On A Major Ticket, Joe Biden Announces Kamala Harris As His Running Mate

This is Black history in the making! Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has selected Kamala Harris as his running mate for the November election.

“I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked Kamala Harris,” Biden shared via Twitter adding that Harris is a “fearless fighter” for the little guy.

Countless interviews and research went into the search process before the former vice president was presented a list of candidates.

Harris has served as the junior United States Senator from California since 2017. She is the first South Asian American and the second African American woman to serve in the U.S. Senate.

Former opponents, Harris and Biden both had eyes on becoming the 2020 presidential hopeful, however, the pair will now formally accept the Democratic nomination at the party’s convention, held virtually next week.
