Daily Beast writer, Ernest Owens recalls his suggestion that the “Cry Me A River,” singer should apologize years ago.

“I asked Justin Timberlake 5 years ago on Twitter if he would apologize to Janet Jackson,” said the writer in a tweet. “He called me a ‘sweet soul’ instead.”

He also urges people to reconsider giving Timberlake a pass.

“For those saying he made mistakes nearly 20 years ago, think again,” continued Owens. ” He knew what he was doing.”

Timberlake never defended Janet Jackson after the wardrobe malfunction at the 2004 Super Bowl, which led to her allegedly being banned and him having the chance to headline again in 2018.

The exchange that Owens is referencing occurred back in 2016 after Timberlake saluted actor Jesse Williams’ acceptance speech for the BET Awards’ Humanitarian honor.

Do you think Justin Timberlake should be forgiven for what happened in the past?
