Pretty Ricky rapper and reality star, Baby Blue faces life in prison after he was indicted on federal fraud charges related to COVID-19 relief benefits.
The 36-year-old, whose real name is Diamond Blue Smith, was arrested on October 5 for his alleged role in a multi-million dollar fraud scheme. He is accused of securing more than $1 million in COVID-19 relief loans for two of his companies, under the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and using “falsified documents” to secure the funds. Allegedly, he spent $96,000 of government coin on a new Ferrari and other luxury goods.
According to case documents , Baby Blue also helped others to obtain PPP loans in exchange for kickbacks. He has been charged for bank fraud, conspiracy to commit wire and bank fraud, and wire fraud, and appeared before a judge in Georgia on Friday (Oct. 9).
He maintains that he is innocent, updating fans on the status of his case in a comment on The Shaderoom via Instagram.
“Had a good first day in court,” wrote Baby Blue. “ Facing life in prison but #ImInnocent. Everything ain’t always what it seems.”
The “Love & Hip-Hop Miami” cast member is among 11 others who have been accused of involvement in the scam.
