(Updated: 7/14/20)

The search for Naya Rivera has come to a tragic end. According to the Ventura County’s Sheriff Office, the body recovered from Lake Piru on Monday morning was identified as the former “Glee” actress. In a press conference, Sheriff Bill Ayub says “she mustered enough energy to get her son back onto the boat, but not enough to save herself.”

Rivera’s former costars took to social media to mourn the loss of the 33-year-old actress. “How can you summarize a decade of friendship and laughter with words alone? If you were friends with Naya Rivera, you simply can’t, ” says Chris Colfer who played “Kurt” on “Glee.”

She first arrived on the Hollywood scene at the age of 4 on the sitcom “The Royal Family,” and since then Rivera has left an imprint as an actress with roles in “Master of Disguise” and most recently “Step Up” the television series based on the movie franchise.

Our thoughts and prayers continue to go out to Rivera’s friends and family, especially her 4-year-old son. As we remember the light that was Naya Rivera, let’s take a look at the span of her 30-year career:

The search continues for “Glee” actress Naya Rivera after she was reported missing yesterday (July 8) after a boating trip in Calif.

Authorities reported that Rivera rented a pontoon boat with her 4-year-old son. The boat was overdue for return and a rental employee found her son in the boat. She was nowhere to be found.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office suspended the search for the 33-year-old at about 10 p.m. Wednesday night.

A spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office, Capt. Eric Bushow says Rivera’s son had on a life vest and an adult life vest was found on the boat at the time of retrieval. The child and his mother went for a swim and she never returned to the boat. Officials continued the search this morning and closed the lake as they investigate Rivera’s disappearance.

During her tenure on “Glee,” Rivera played Santana Lopez for six years and appeared in almost every episode of the hit series. She started her acting debut as a child on the sitcom, “The Royal Family.”

Fellow celebs took to social media in response to the unfortunate news and actress Jackée Harry, who worked alongside Rivera as a young child, shared a scene between the two.

“We’re presuming that an accident happened and we’re presuming she drowned in the lake,” Ventura County Sheriff Deputy Chris Dyer reported at a news conference today (July 9). He says that their goal is “still to bring Miss Rivera home to her family.”

We pray for a safe and sound return for Rivera.
