Prayers Up! Tiger Woods Hospitalized, Suffers Multiple Leg Injuries Following Single-Car Crash

Updated 2/24/21:

Our prayers for Tiger Woods continue as he begins his road to recovery.

Following yesterday’s single-car crash, doctors still work to repair his right leg after his bone shattered in at least two places.

“Mr. Woods suffered significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity that were treated during emergency surgery by trauma specialists,” said Dr. Anish Mahajan, Chief Medical Officer at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in a statement this morning. “Comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia.”

Dr. Mahjan also adds that “a combination of screws and pins” were used and that Woods also suffered serious injuries to his ankle and foot.

“Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required the surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to the swelling,” continued Dr. Mahjan.

Woods’ team also released a statement yesterday (February 23), to share that he was “awake, recovering, and responsive.”

Reports indicate that Woods was allegedly “traveling at a high rate of speed” before losing control of the vehicle and crossing the center divider. He was the only occupant of the vehicle at the time and his SUV rolled over multiple times.

Our prayers continue and we wish Tiger Woods a healthy, speedy recovery.

According to reports, Woods was removed from the vehicle with the jaws of life.

“Mr. Woods was extricated from the wreck with the ‘jaws of life’ by Los Angeles County firefighters and paramedics, then transported to a local hospital by ambulance for his injuries,” said officials.

No further details on what caused the crash have been released. Police are currently investigating the incident

Last week the 45-year-old announced that a recent back surgery could keep him out of the upcoming Master’s tournament set to be held in Augusta, Georgia.

Just hours ago, Woods joined retired NBA superstar, Dwayne Wade for a game of golf.
