When Will It End? 31-Year Old Jonathan Price Tries To Break Up A Domestic Dispute & Ends Up Shot Dead By Cops

Another day, another Black life taken, police shot and killed Jonathan Price.

According to CNN, a police officer in Texas has been charged with murder after fatally shooting the 31-year-old Black man.

Per the Texas Department of Public Safety, Wolfe City officer Shaun Lucas responded to a call about a possible fight just north of the city center on Saturday.

“Officer Lucas made contact with a man, later identified as 31-year-old Jonathan Price, who was reportedly involved in the disturbance,” said a statement from DPS. “Officer Lucas attempted to detail Price, who resisted in a non-threatening posture and began walking away.”

Price was attempting to break up a domestic dispute before he was shot, according to Civil Rights attorney Lee Merritt.

“Mr. Price did not become violent, but there was a male who was aggressive towards a woman,” said  Merritt.

Lucas first used his taser before firing his weapon and shooting Price, as confirmed by the report. Price later died at a hospital.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that the actions of Officer Lucas were not (objectively) reasonable,” confirmed the statement.

While it hasn’t been determined Lucas has a lawyer, he was booked into the Hunt County Jail by Texas Rangers.

Jonathan Price, who has also been identified as a Wolfe City employee, is yet another Black man to die at the hands of police in the wake of several other police shootings like George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and countless others – when will it end?
